| Bio: | Name: Katherine "Kitty" Pryde Codename: Sprite Age/DOB: 14 - Jan. 30th, 1995 Affiliation: X-Men Position: Student Background: Katherine Anne Pryde, or Kitty, was born in Deerfield, Illinois to Carmen and Theresa Pryde. She is of Jewish decent on her paternal grandfather's side. Samuel Prydeman was held in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Kitty doesn't normally take any of the Jewish commitments she is proud of her Jewish decent. After her parents tried for several years for another child and failed, Kitty was raised as an only child. She grew up like any other child with exceptional grades in school, more so then others. Her fascination with computer was clear to see as she continued to get older. She was smarter then most, smarted then most children her age. That was when her parents noticed her as a gifted child, to challenge her they sent her to a private school. Kitty started having very bad headaches at age thirteen. Her parents then took her out of the school because they were so severe, and kept her at home. Neither knew that these headaches were the signal of the emergence of her mutant powers. Kitty herself was unaware that she was a mutant until the afternoon that Professor Charles Xavier arrived with two of the X-Men, his own team of mutant students who fought for peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants. She got along with Xavier and the two X-Men who escorted him to his meeting with her and her parents. Her parents at first had a hard time understanding that their daughter's headaches were the beginning of mutant powers, and were scared to admit it. However, soon Xavier with his words of persuasion made them realize that she did indeed have the beginnings of mutant powers, and that the best and safest place for her was at his institute. They agreed, and this began Kitty's schooling at the institute at the age of thirteen. Personality: Kitty is a down to earth go getter. She can be at times a bit naive about things but not for long. She does not typically give up on things unless she truly believes the job is worth giving up. She tries not to get herself in anything where she is over her head in, and feeling overwhelmed. She chooses instead to keep a steady pace at whatever she is doing at any particular moment. She's a bit sarcastic but not to in your face about it, it is a subtle kind of sarcasm, yet she is also very caring and strong. Kitty however has a very wild as well as funny, tricky and sneaky side, and doesn't really even listen to reason. She often was seen not following the rules, and only if she believed that it was a good idea to do so. Abilities: Kitty has the power of Phasing, which when she is in this form makes her completely intangible to physical touch. In phasing she can pass through solid matter by passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object she is moving through. So this process makes her and the object she is passing through temporarily merged together without interacting, and each is unharmed when Kitty has finished passing through it. Her phasing through objects is at the same rate of speed at which she is moving before she "enters" them, and since she is unable to breathe while inside an object, she can only continually phase through solid objects, or underground as long as she can hold her breath. While she is phased, she does not walk on surfaces, as much as interacts with the molecules of air above them. This allows her to look like she is ascending or descending. If Kitty uses her abilities while going through electrical systems, or bio-electrical systems, such as the human body, thus interfering with and disrupting the flow of the electrons from atom to atom in the object. Her powers can be extended to phase other people and objects through things too. She has also trained herself to go automatically, by reflex, into a phasing state in any indication of danger, such as a loud noise like a gunshot, in order to protect herself. As while she is phased, she is immune to most physical attacks, and has inconsistent showings of some resistance to telepathy. Kitty on top of her mutant powers is a genius in the field of applied technology and computer science. [Kitty does have things that would give her problems and harm her those consist of: Thick materials that are made of Adamantium that if she tries to phase through them makes her feel disoriented severely, or experience pain. Energy attacks, such as energy blasts that can shock or stun, this causes her to be unable to become fully tangible for months. However directed-energy attacks, such as lightening, and lasers, have been shown to pass through her without harm in phase form. Also, magic and magical beings also prove to be an enigma in regards to Kitty's phasing, if a being using some kinds of magic on her, such as a demon, they can cause her pain, but leave no marks when they pass items through her tangible body, such as claws in demons.] PB: Camilla Belle | |||||||||
